Teaching and Learning Approach
My Somatic Therapeutic Yoga Training is grounded in professionalism, respect and compassionate learning. I aim to create a safe and inclusive environment where trainees feel supported to explore, question and grow. Clear communication, mutual respect and confidentiality are essential parts of our shared agreement.

If a concern ever arises, trainees are encouraged to speak with me directly so that we can resolve the matter with care and understanding. A formal complaints process is also in place, ensuring that any issue can be handled fairly, confidentially and with professionalism.

Purpose
This agreement outlines the shared commitments between myself, as the training facilitator and owner of the Somatic Therapeutic Yoga Training, and each trainee enrolled in the programme. It establishes the foundations for a safe, professional and compassionate learning environment that encourages both personal and academic growth.

As your training facilitator, I agree to:

  • Deliver the training with integrity, professionalism and care.
  • Provide clear, evidence-informed teaching in therapeutic yoga, drawing from both classical and contemporary approaches.
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning space that supports curiosity, reflection and personal development.
  • Communicate the aims, structure and assessment criteria of the training clearly.
  • Offer constructive feedback and ongoing support throughout the training.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding any personal or sensitive information shared during sessions.
  • Respect each trainee’s unique background, experience and learning pace.
  • Operate within professional and ethical guidelines consistent with the principles of yoga therapy.
  • Be open to feedback and committed to continual improvement of the training and teaching practice.

As a trainee, you agree to:

  • Take responsibility for your own learning, attendance and participation throughout the training.
  • Arrive punctually and complete all required coursework and assessments to the best of your ability.
  • Practise self-awareness and self-care, communicating openly if challenges arise during the programme.
  • Treat peers and the facilitator with respect, kindness and professionalism.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding any personal or case-based information shared within the group.
  • Approach the training with curiosity, humility and a willingness to learn from both theory and experience.
  • Uphold ethical conduct and respect the therapeutic framework of yoga in all aspects of your training.

By enrolling in this training, both facilitator and trainee agree to work collaboratively in a spirit of integrity, compassion and mutual respect, recognising that learning is an ongoing journey of self-discovery and professional growth.

Complaints Procedure

Purpose
This procedure provides a clear and respectful way for trainees to raise any concerns that may arise during the training. The aim is to resolve matters fairly, with sensitivity and professionalism, while maintaining a supportive and trusting learning environment.

  1. Informal discussion
If a concern arises, trainees are encouraged to speak with me directly at the earliest opportunity. Most matters can be resolved quickly through honest and compassionate conversation.
  2. Formal complaint
If an issue cannot be resolved informally, a written complaint may be submitted via email. This should include:
  • A clear outline of the concern
  • Any relevant dates or context
  • Details of any previous discussions about the matter

I will acknowledge receipt of the complaint within seven (7) days and provide a considered response within fourteen (14) days.

  1. External review
If the trainee feels the issue remains unresolved after this process, they may request an independent review by an agreed neutral party (for example, a senior yoga teacher, supervisor, or mentor external to the training). This ensures impartiality and fairness in the resolution process.
  2. Confidentiality
All concerns and complaints will be handled in confidence. Information will only be shared with those directly involved in addressing the issue.
  3. Professional conduct
Throughout the process, all communication will be guided by respect, honesty and a genuine intention to reach understanding and resolution.
